Ingenium 2.0Turbo Petrol
Compact, quick to respond and used across Jaguar and Land Rover, the Ingenium four-cylinder pairs direct injection with a twin-scroll turbo. The familiar P250 and P300 badges describe different calibrations of the same 2.0-litre petrol architecture.

Power & torque
| Version | Horsepower | Torque · lb-ft |
|---|---|---|
| Early Evoque / Discovery Sport Si4 | 237 / 286 hp | 251 / 295 |
| P250 / 25t | 246–247 hp | 269 |
| P300 / 30t | 296 hp | 295 |
| P400e plug-in hybrid | 398 hp combined | 472 combined |
P250 is published at 246 or 247 hp depending on model/year. Earlier transverse Si4 ratings differ. P400e figures include the electric motor; the petrol engine alone is 296 hp. Badge numbers are not U.S. horsepower ratings.

U.S. and Canadian engine-equipped versions; availability varies by trim and market. ¹ E-PACE moved from D8 to PTA for 2021; Discovery Sport moved to PTA for 2020. Early Si4 ratings differ from P250/P300. Slash-separated horsepower and torque values match in order. ² P400e figures are combined engine-and-motor output.
Engine controllers
| Controller | Processor | Applications |
|---|---|---|
| Bosch MED17.9.9 | Infineon TC1793 | Ingenium 2.0 petrol applications |
Earlier Ford-derived JLR 2.0 turbo engines use different controllers. Read the Bosch hardware number, JLR part number and software identification from the vehicle; a P250/P300 badge alone cannot identify a compatible ECU or calibration.
Common issues & sensible maintenance
- Coolant leaks. Inspect hoses, joints and coolant residue. JLR documented leaks from a coolant outlet hose on early PT204 applications; investigate falling coolant before overheating occurs.
- Coolant pump faults. A high fan speed or P26CB/P2B61 fault can indicate a pump-control problem. Check the pump and its wiring rather than replacing parts from the code alone.
- Harness damage. JLR documented coolant-pump wiring damage affecting a shared 5 V reference. Several sensor faults together can have one electrical cause.
- Oil and timing drive. Use the exact JLR oil approval and service schedule for the VIN. Short trips, heat and sustained load justify reviewing severe-use servicing; investigate persistent chain rattle or cam-correlation faults.
- Misfires and rough running. Check plugs, coils, fuel pressure and intake leaks. Inspect direct-injection intake deposits when symptoms warrant cleaning; a fixed cleaning interval is not an OEM requirement.
Keep the basics right. Monitor coolant, keep oil servicing appropriate to use, and diagnose faults early. Some 48 V variants have VIN-specific charging-system recalls; check the vehicle rather than assuming every PT204 has the same hybrid equipment.

Specifications vary by calibration and model year. Service bulletins document faults on identified applications; they do not establish a failure rate for every engine.
