Audi Volkswagen EA837 3.0 Supercharged V6: Specs, Engine Codes & Maintenance
Audi / Volkswagen · Supercharged petrol
EA8373.0 TFSI V6
The “T” badge hides a supercharger. A belt-driven Roots blower gives the EA837 3.0 TFSI its immediate response and broad torque delivery, whether it is pulling an S4 or a Q7. Later versions add a supercharger clutch and combined port/direct injection, making the engine code more useful than the badge.

Common faults & maintenance
- Coolant leaks. Check the water pump, thermostat and pipes beneath the supercharger. Unexplained coolant loss also calls for inspection of the charge coolers.
- PCV and oil consumption. A faulty pressure-regulating valve can affect crankcase pressure and oil use. Follow the applicable Audi test procedure before blaming piston rings.
- Start-up rattle. Record when it happens and check oil level, pressure and cam timing. A brief start-up noise and persistent chain noise require different assessments.
- Airflow and ignition. Investigate intake deposits, secondary-air restrictions, plugs and coils when faults or misfires appear. Service the supercharger belt and inspect its drive.
Keep it healthy. Use the required oil approval and match service frequency to distance, time and operating conditions. Address coolant loss early. Clean intake and secondary-air passages when diagnosis indicates a restriction, with no blanket 80,000 km requirement.
