3.0 TD6 V6 Diesel
The Td6 makes its case with low-speed muscle and relaxed cruising. Its compact V6 delivers 254 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque, bringing an easy stride to the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Discovery. A single variable-geometry turbo and eight-speed automatic make that pulling power easy to use.

Care & trouble spots
- Oil and intervals. Use the specified approval, not viscosity alone. Follow the VIN-specific service schedule and shorten intervals for frequent short trips, towing, off-road use or extreme temperatures. Investigate rising oil levels or early service warnings.
- Both belts matter. The front belt drives the camshafts; the rear belt drives the high-pressure fuel pump. Replace both at the applicable age or mileage limit and inspect their tensioners. Low mileage does not stop belt ageing.
- Crankshaft and bearings. Land Rover documented main-bearing-shell movement on the 3.0 TDV6. A deep knock, rumble or oil-pressure warning needs immediate attention: stop safely, switch off and arrange recovery. The bulletin does not establish a failure rate.
- Intake, EGR and boost. Deposits, sticking components and leaking intake or charge-air plumbing can cause poor response. Check fault codes, air leaks and actuator operation before cleaning or replacing parts.
- DPF and DEF. Repeated short trips can interrupt filter regeneration. Follow the handbook’s response to exhaust-filter warnings, maintain the DEF level and diagnose SCR or NOx-sensor faults before a restart countdown expires.
- Fuel, cooling and turbo. Keep fuel-filter servicing current and investigate coolant loss or leaks promptly. Warm the engine gently; after sustained heavy work, ease the load before shutdown.
Inspect first; clean as needed. Base intake and EGR cleaning on deposits, symptoms and service history.
