Honda K24 2.4L i-VTEC: Port-Injection Codes, Specs, ECUs & Common Issues
Honda / Acura · Engine Information
K24 · 2.4L i-VTEC
The longer-stroke K24 brings useful low-speed torque to the Accord, CR-V and Element, while the TSX adds a sportier tune. These versions use port injection; their outputs and controller hardware vary by application.

Engine controllers
| Application / PCM family | Controller / hardware | Identification details |
|---|---|---|
| Accord / TSX · RBA / RBB | Matsushita variants: SH7055; 512 KB | Documented families; verify complete 37820 number |
| 2006 TSX · RBB-A56–A62 | Matsushita SH7058; 1 MB | Specific suffix range, not every TSX PCM |
| 2007–2008 TSX · 37820-RBB | MT A21 / AT A71 donor identifiers | Earlier TSX FlashPro installations can require a donor PCM |
| CR-V / Element application variants | Keihin SH7058; 1 MB; Element also SH7055/512 KB | Supplier and hardware depend on the part number |
Supplier and memory vary by controller suffix. Read the original ECU label and calibration before selecting a programming method.
Common issues & maintenance
- Cold-start VTC rattleHonda documented a worn actuator on 2008–2012 Accord four-cylinders and 2007–2012 CR-Vs. Diagnose the rattle before replacing a complete chain assembly.
- Oil consumptionCertain 2008–2011 Accords can develop oil-control-ring deposits. Monitor the dipstick and investigate consumption; this does not apply to every K24.
- Age-related leaks & valve clearanceInspect oil seals and coolant hoses, and keep valve clearances in specification when noise, idle quality or starting changes.
Correct oil level protects the timing chain and VTC system. Use the specified lubricant and service schedule; shorten service intervals where the owner’s manual requires severe-use maintenance.
